Gambit, SZ Absolute, Chosen5, and Fire Dragoon have confirmed their spots at the WESG 2017 Asia-Pacific Regional Finals, after winning their respective qualifiers.
The rest of the WESG qualifiers for the Asia-Pacific region kicked off this month after Flash and New4 secured their position in the APAC Finals early, via the Chinese qualifiers in September.
In the Malaysia qualifier, Fire Dragoon went undefeated in their group 3-0. Idzni "Click-" Rosdi and co. cruised past Orange and Karnal in two straight maps during the playoffs, and became the third team to secure their APAC Finals spot.
Followed by the West Asia qualifier, HellRaisers' Issa "ISSAA" Murad played for Chosen5 and just barely managed to scrape through, after outlasting RvN and Iraq in the semi-final and grand final 2-1, respectively.
Japan's SCARZ Absolute finished first place in the East Asia qualifier, after edging out the new The MongolZ roster 2-1 in the semis, and comfortably defeating D13 in the grand final.
In the most recent qualifier (Central Asia), PGL Major champions Gambit attended the event with Sanzhar "neaLaN" Iskhakov and fielded the K23 core that won last year's WESG APAC Regional Finals. As expected, Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev's crew qualified for the APAC Finals again, with 2-0 wins over Tengri and Kyrgyzstan.
Here is the current list of teams for WESG APAC Regional Finals (January 12-15), with fourteen spots left to fill:
